Expat Spouses Initiative was founded in 2014 when two women with a vision decided to address the disconnect between the expat partner population in Eindhoven and the local Dutch community.
It is a bottom-up community-driven movement focusing on supporting the international spouses of working residents to integrate in the Netherlands professionally. Though cultural integration is key to our members’ success, it is the professional gap that is not adequately being addressed in other organizations, and it is our main focus.
Today the Brainport region is responsible for more than 40% of the Netherland’s R&D and is on a mission to double the number of its bright international minds in the next three years. They are typically accompanied by a highly-skilled spouse who is willing to reenter the workforce, and they are an invaluable source of talent for the corporate Netherlands. These talents bring a robust skillset, a proven work record, life experience, and confidence. So why is it a challenge for them to get professionally integrated?
